our mision

To inspire and develop our global community of youth and volunteers to a life dedicated to leadership, service and innovation.

The HOBY ND Alumni program is a great opportunity for HOBY ambassadors to stay involved in HOBY after the seminar weekend. HOBY Alumni have opportunities to participate in alumni activities and get involved in their own communities. Each alumni is challenged to complete and log 100 hours of community service the year following their seminar.

  • Everyone working on the ND HOBY committee is a volunteer. Those who plan and carry out the seminar do so because they are committed to ND's youth.
  • ND HOBY is affiliated with HOBY International, which means HOBY alumni are immediately connected to networking and scholarship opportunities on a national, and even international, level upon completion of the HOBY Seminar.
  • Students who attend ND HOBY are eligible to attend HOBY's World Leadership Congress, where they will meet other sophomores from around the world for a weeklong summit in Washington, DC. Only HOBY Ambassadors can attend WLC.
  • ND HOBY is insured by HOBY International. In order to maintain this insurance, ND HOBY must prove compliance with all of HOBY's risk management policies. HOBY goes to great lengths to keep students safe while they are at HOBY.
  • HOBY volunteers are trained on an annual basis. All key volunteers attend a National Training Institute to learn and practice HOBY's policies, curriculum, and core values.
  • ND HOBY volunteers receive support from an International Office and work closely with a Director of National Programs, who is based in HOBY's Los Angeles office.
  • ND HOBY follows HOBY International's proven curriculum. Because this curriculum is a nationally recognized standard in youth leadership, students will gain educational and career opportunities by listing HOBY on their scholarship applications and resumes.
  • ND HOBY maintains an active alumni association that is connected to HOBY's International Alumni association. When a student completes the HOBY seminar, they automatically become an Alumnus of the program.

ALUMNI & LEADERSHIP FOR SERVICE

why hoby?

Founded in 1958, HOBY’s mission is to inspire and develop our global community of youth and volunteers to a life dedicated to leadership, service and innovation.

HOBY programs are conducted annually throughout the United States, serving local and international high school students. HOBY programs provide students selected by their schools to participate in unique leadership training, service-learning and motivation-building experiences.

HOBY also provides adults with opportunities to make a significant impact on the lives of youth by volunteering. Over 4,000 committed HOBY volunteers plan and execute the programs each year, serving both at the local HOBY affiliate level and on HOBY’s Board of Trustees. Due to the selfless efforts of volunteers and the contributions of generous donors, nearly 10,000 students participate in HOBY programs annually.

Today, over 375,000 proud alumni make HOBY stronger than ever. HOBY alumni are leaders in their schools and communities, throughout the United States and the world, making a difference for others through service. Want to see the impact of HOBY firsthand?
